The Plan Behind 6 Tee and Right of 18 Tee

On the top of the list of priorities for the Turf Care Department is the installation of “low maintenance” areas behind 6 tee and to the right of 18 tee. These areas will be seeded to a fescue grass that will require minimal maintenance.  Last week, Construction Foreman Mark Campbell went in and leveled these areas out, added fill (clay) where needed and removed all twigs and stumps.  The next process is cap these areas with contaminated sand from the old topdressing pile at the nursery. This contaminated sand it useless to us because of the soil that has been mixed in over time of us driving on it. Lastly is to apply seed. Fescue seed has a slow germination rate and stays thin and wispy in sandy areas. These areas will look thin and bare for a majority of the season but in a year from now will be full.

The plan is to have these areas finished and seeded by the end of the week.
